The Government Programme of Action (Outcome 12) requires government departments to develop geographic access norms and to set targets for reducing the distances people have to travel to reach services, where this is appropriate. This presentation looks at equitable provision of social facilities for a range of settlements and offers guidelines and tools for integrated provision that incorporates the 1) development of fully provisioned quality living environments, 2) improvement of access to social services, 3) Establishing priorities for facility provision, 4) achieving equity between suburbs or towns and 5) provides input to accessibility modelling
