Waste is an undesirable but inevitable by-product in any manufacturing process and is frequently undervalued. The production of waste yarns by the waste spinner was traditionally carried out by condenser spinning in which the material was processed through a card incorporating workers and strippers and condenser bobbins to produces slubbings. These were then ring spun onto large tubes using a low draft and the yarn re-wound onto bobbins.
