The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of vehicle landmine protection validation testing in South Africa. A short history of validation test standards is given, followed by a summary of current open test standards in general use in South Africa. The validation methodology and Test Measurement and Evaluation Equipment (TME) are presented along with the ongoing research focus areas. The paper is completed with a summary of the direct impact that validation testing has on South Africa
