While the third State of Logistics survey in 2006 focused on the implementation of logistics strategies in a developing economy, the theme for this year’s study is logistics for regional growth and development. South Africa has a leading role to play in the development of the southern African region and is well positioned to take up this challenge. In this survey the attempt is to portray the role South Africa is playing, from a logistics point of view, in the southern African region. The endeavour, through some case studies, is to illustrate what it entails to provide logistics services to the rest of Africa
