The use of a hybrid photovoltaic (PV) and thermal storage system in houses was discussed by Huang et al. (2019). They found that the dual storage system utilising both batteries and a hot water thermal storage system is effective when partially replacing energy demand in a house. Kolendo and Krawczyk (2018) found that the performance of solar systems in houses depend on the solar potential of the geographic location, the sun exposure, the slope of the roof and the shape of the roof. This paper describes the performance of a solar system in a private dwelling in Pretoria situated in the Tshwane Municipality, South Africa and analyses the efficiency and efficacy of the system, as well as the benefit obtained. |
